Babelwithme

Babelwithme is a website that people can chat on.  It is much easier because you can chat with people from other countries even, and you can understand them because the languages change when they type, to your language.  Babelwithme is just a website that has simple chat rooms that any amount of people can chat together in. It shows who all is in the chat room, and you can even share the conversation with people on facebook or twitter.  Get started -> Babelwithme!

Domains and backgrounds

Domains are very useful for companies or other organizations especially to make it easier for consumers to visit their website without having to type in a real long address, like google.com for example. Godaddy.com is a nice example of a website that allows you to buy a domain name of your choice and purchase it for ten dollars a year.

There are some backgrounds on blogger that blogger provides, but there are a bunch more websites out on the web that have backgrounds to put on your blog or other websites. A few websites like Shabby Blogs and Hot Bliggity are just two of some websites that provide backgrounds to put on your background.

Google Calendars

Google Calendars is a very simple site, but it can be useful for anyone that is busy and wants to keep their schedules organized online. I like the fact that all you have to do is click on the date that the event is happening on, and it will give you choices to choose from to edit the time, what kind of event it is, and you can type in any extra information you might want to add for yourself.  There is even a task bar that can be added so it can be more detailed.  There are reminders that can be sent to your email, and there are pop-ups that will show up when you open up your igoogle page.  Some benefits of google calendars, is that the calendars are online, so you can just type the information in, and not have to write it all. BlogThis!

BlogThis is a little tool that anyone can use to post stuff on your blogs.  It is a tool that anyone can load, and the purpose of BlogThis, is so that you can be on another webpage, away from your blog, and you click on the BlogThis! toolbar, and it pops up a screen that gives a link to the page, and it puts it right on your blog.

Bibme

Bibme is a very useful website that can help out any student looking for some place that will site sources.  You can site other webpages, books, magazines, movies, journals, and other sources.  It's fast, simple, and easy to get started, and to continue siting anything you might need to.  Get started ->Bibme

Firefox Personas

The firefox personas are kinda interesting, because it allows you to customize the space up above the website.  Mine is a kstate customization, and it fits in the space well and I like having it there.  But, it only works on the computer that you uploaded it on, so you cannot use another laptop and have it there.

Google Products

The are a bunch of different products that google provides.  And, they are all for free!  Some products include books, news, select searches, translators, and web search features.  There are also some things that we did not cover in class like, images, videos, and groups.  The product I liked the most from google was the google maps.  This feature allows you to look at a satellite picture of anywhere in the world.  You can even click on this little yellow dude, and drag him to a street, and you can look around from a street view.  ->Google<- or try out ->Google Maps <-. 

Igoogle

Igoogle is endless.  There are a bunch of different gadgets to play, things to search for, and stuff to look at. There is a way to have an email account on google too.  Also, on igoogle, you can customize anything about the page.  There is way to change the  background, a way to customize what gadgets there is on your page, and more. This is just a picture from Google Maps.  Google Maps is a feature from Google that I will talk about in the post right above.

Gadgets

There are countless amounts of gadgets out in the web.  Gadgets can be used in any way too.  It can be used for entertainment, stats, and other ways.  There are games, jokes, interactive pets, and all sorts of jazz.  Gadgets are also useful, because they do not take up that much space, and they can just be on a sidebar or something.

Histats

Histats is a nice gadget that is really useful. It has a bunch of stats that you can check out. You can find out how many people looked at your page, where they are from, how many of them are currently online, and all sorts of other things. Tagxedo

Word Clouds

Word clouds are simply just fun, entertaining, and easy ways to make collages about anything you might want to talk about.  All you have to do is, think about a topic, put in words about the topic, and sit back and watch it turn into a fun collage.  Of course, you might have to go back and edit it to make it perfect, but it's worth it to have a nice collage.  To start on your own collage, visit any of these sights-> Wordle, TagCrowd, and  WorditOut. Image Chef is a cool website that allows a person to do virtually anything with text.  You can place it in a funny picture, customize it in any way you want, and just be fun with it.  For example, there are some pictures to choose from so that you can enter text into the picture to make it funny.  I have some examples posted here so you can check it out. Meez Chat Roomz

This tool on meez is really fun. You are able to customize virtually anything about the room. Other people can also go into the room and chat with you and the other people in the room. There are some actions that the meez can do, like sitting and dancing. There are some things also that you can buy and put in the room.  Go to my room here -> My Room!

Diigo

Diigo is also a very useful social bookmarking website. It can be used a variety of different ways also. It can be a bookmarking tool, or a research tool. There is also a toolbar from diigo that can be downloaded so you can highlight anything and link it back to the website for use later on. It also works for pictures too. Delicous

Delicous is another good social bookmarking sight. It's a sight that allows you to tag different pages that lead towards your bookmarks. This sight is very useful to use on a big project because you can add friends to see what they have also tagged. They can share with you anything that is useful on the internet for your use. Symbaloo

Symbaloo is a very useful sight. You are able to add links in the boxes that are shown on the website. You can customize it, rearrange them in any order, and just make internet surfing much less complicated. You can color code it to make it even easier to find the right page. New Virtual World!

I found an interesting new virtual world that is very much like our life. It is called secondlife.com. People can create an account, and customize it in any way they want. They can have a job, shop at life-like places, and all sorts of jazz. One thing that is good about second life, is that anyone can customize it any way they want, and there is so much stuff to do, it is endless. One bad thing is that is it kind of hard to get the account set up. It is hard to explain, so try it out for yourself.

Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking is a way for internet users to manage, store, and organize bookmarks of resources on the web. In social bookmarking, users can save links to web pages that they want to remember and share. The bookmarks can usually either be public or private depending on the person. It can also be shared with groups or networks. These bookmarks can be about anything. It can be informal, fun, and social. People can even add comments and chat about that link, or anything else in that web site.

This is www.textanim.com. This is a website where anyone can type something and make it all customized. And, you can send it to a friend or something like that. It is just a way to make a normal text become animated and customized.

How I Currently Use Social Media

I use social media by using facebook, you tube, and sometimes I check out myspace.  I talk to a lot of people on facebook, and it is an easy site to learn and get to know people on.  You tube is a fun website that lets everybody check out cool videos or other media.  Myspace is a lot like facebook, but I like facebook more because it is more simple and a lot of my friends have their own accounts.
